Everything You Need to Know About Breckenridge Opening Day

10-07-15Breckenridge recently woke up to the sight of the beautiful Ten Mile Range covered in snow. While the town saw little to no snow, those living on the mountain had to spend a few extra minutes in the morning clearing their windshields of snow. So, what does all this mean exactly? It’s almost time. Ski resorts in the US will soon open in a sort of cadence, with Arapahoe Basin, presumably, being the first resort in North America to start up the chairlifts, scan passes and send skiers and snowboarders down the beloved white ribbon of ice. Within a month of the opening of A-Basin, snow enthusiasts will watch their options expand, with resorts through the high country opening their gondola doors and ski shops to welcome everyone who has so patiently anticipated the 2015-2016 winter season.

download (30)Breckenridge Ski Resort has set the opening date for upcoming winter season as Friday, November 13, 2015. Operating hours will be 9am – 4pm, with the Gondola running from 9am – 6pm. Breckenridge has not yet released which lifts and runs will be open for opening day, as much of that is dependent on early season snow and the start date of snow blowing at the resort. The best resource for updates on the terrain openings is the Breckenridge Terrain Report and the Breckenridge Ski Resort facebook page. Lift tickets will be on sale at the Gondola office throughout the next month and starting again on opening day.

It’s high time to start waxing your skis, buying your ski pass and checking your gear to make sure you are prepped and ready for opening day. Many local ski and snowboard shops in town are still offering amazing deals on everything from skis and poles to coats and gloves. Take advantage of these fall sales to make sure your gear is ready to take on the winter season!

Oh, and we almost forgot… PRAY FOR SNOW!
