If you are a rafting fanatic or maybe just interested in rafting there are a ton of great opportunities to watch or be a part of a rafting event this summer! Its fun for the whole family and no matter if you are coming to visit Colorado or are a native there are awesome Colorado rafting events all throughout the summer!
One of the largest rafting events in the state is called FIBArk which is known to be America’s oldest whitewater festival in America! This event is held on Father’s Day weekend, which is June 18-21. FIBArk is held in Salida, Colorado and the race is held on the Arkansas River. If you wanna be part of the race, register today! Pay a $20 dollar bib deposit and race away for your chance at $400 in cash and prizes! If you are not interested in racing, you can enjoy the plethora of other activities this festival has to offer such as great food and live music!
Another event to consider participating in is the Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival. This fun packed weekend is held in Canon City and will be held the weekend of June 26-27. Food, drinks and music are a must of course! You can also bring your own boat for the race at this event and there are even more events like a disc golf tournament, a river tube race and an obstacle course!
Last but not least, one of the more packed weekends of water fun is the event that CKS (a local rafting supply store in Buena Vista) puts on during Memorial Day weekend. Really start your summer off right by attending CKS PaddleFest on May 22-25. CKS will be hosting so many activities this weekend, doing it all might be the only challenge. They even have stand up paddleboard (SUP) yoga! There will also be live music, food and great drink specials. The whole town of Buena Vista will be celebrating so be sure to get there if you can!
The community of people who love rafting, kayaking and rivers is huge and these events are a great way to connect with others who share your passions. In addition to these events, there are trips on the Arkansas River nearby for all ages which makes the opportunities endless with Breckenridge Whitewater!
