Colorado River
The southwest’s longest river, the Colorado is both furious and utopian as it runs from the fierce Gore Canyon whitewater to the mellow and scenic “Upper C” section (both near Kremmling) to the fun whitewater of Shoshone Rapids near Glenwood Springs.
Since famed Civil War veteran and explorer Major John Wesley deemed the stretch “impassable” in the late 1800s, Gore Canyon has since become a Class V proving ground for boaters from across the country.
Just downstream of the canyon, the Colorado opens up to a gorgeous park-like valley, meandering through vibrant meadows strewn with wildflowers and precipitous mini-gorges. Eagles soar in search of prey as trout feast from the depths.
One of the most scenic and secluded regions in Colorado, the Upper Colorado River valley boasts massive canyons and dreamlike vistas. With natural hot springs scattered along the high desert paradise, the Upper C offers a relaxing float trip for rafting, ideal waters for beginner kayakers and some of the finest float-fishing waters available.
Shoshone Rapids offers an exciting day of whitewater thrills through the Shoshone rapids and breathtaking beauty beneath the majestic walls of Glenwood Canyon. CLICK HERE to book or quote the Shoshone Rapids trip!
