Breck October Events
October 4th, 2013
Breckenridge is a beautiful place in October. The leaves are changing to their vibrant yellow and red colors, the air is a little cooler, and the snow is starting to fall. With events going on all around town and great deals on lodging, October is a perfect time to visit the mountains.
The first weekend of the month brings to town the Breckenridge Craft Spirits Festival. The festival hosts seminars, local cuisine, and samples of local Colorado-made spirits. Saturday, October 5th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm is the grand tasting where guests can sample spirits and talk with distillers about their products, mixology, and more. Live music and sidewalk sales will fill the streets for your enjoyment. Also, local restaurants are offering an added bonus to cap off the weekend with $18.59 priced meals in honor of Breckenridge’s founding year. Come out and enjoy the cooler weather along with the sights and sounds of the Craft Spirits Festival.
The following weekend, the town welcomes the North Face Speaker Series back to the Riverwalk Center on Saturday, October 12. This year, climbing enthusiast Conrad Anker will speak of his many travels including summiting Everest and numerous big walls in the Arctic. He has also climbed the Sharks Fin on India’s Mount Meru and stated it was the single hardest climb of his career. Listen to Anker tell the story of suffering and the exuberating feeling as he relives his ultimate expedition. General admission is free and kicks off at 7:00pm.
October is also a great time to get in some end of the season hiking and mountain biking before the trails become snow covered. The cooler weather and amazing colors of the leaves can provide the perfect backdrop for an epic day on the trails.
If you are looking for an escape to the mountains, October is a great time to come visit. Set aside a weekend to enjoy some of the activities and events that are taking place in Breckenridge. Come feel the buzz around town that lets you know ski season is just around the corner!
