How Do I Pick A Good Rafting Company?
Deciding on a whitewater rafting company that will give you the best river trip experience involves many decisions. Which river? How difficult? How long? Which company should I go with? You want to choose a trustworthy company that will make your whitewater adventure the memory of a lifetime.
One thing our years of experience have taught us is that every group desires to have fun, stay safe, be at least a little adventurous, see nature from a unique vantage point, and experience a new side of themselves in the process. Our mission at Breckenridge Whitewater Rafting is to help you enjoy all of those aspects of a whitewater rafting tour while creating lasting memories.
Finding the right whitewater rafting guide and trip experience is essential to enjoying whitewater rafting. Picking out the right river trip is a decision everyone makes – and our Colorado River Trips section is a good place to start. Or browse our most popular Arkansas River trips, Colorado River trips, or Clear Creek rafting trips.
Even after you’ve started sorting out which river trip looks right for your group, we at Breckenridge Whitewater Rafting think there are a few questions everyone should ask when choosing a whitewater river trip & company:
Factors to Consider When Looking for a Rafting Outfitter
At Breckenridge Whitewater, we know fun on the river means doing our best to create the safest possible environment for all paddlers. That’s why we place safety above any other concern. Any responsible whitewater outfitter should ask you questions about yourself and the type of trip you want to take to make sure you are booking the best trip for your abilities. Any gear or needed equipment should also be provided. At BWR, we provide and require helmets on our Class III, Class IV, and Class V whitewater rafting trips. We also provide wetsuits and splash jackets for free on all of our white water rafting trips run by BWR. A concerned rafting outfitter keeps its rafters warm and comfortable without making you pay extra! We consider this a safety matter too! Please keep in mind, however, that whitewater rafting is an activity that takes place outside with natural elements. Rafting is not a controlled amusement park ride and each and every day is a little bit of a different experience on a river trip.
Taking the time to find out a little more about your group is just one of many ways we try and find the best whitewater rafting experience for you and your group. At Breckenridge Whitewater, we know matching you to the right river trip means asking about your adventure level, fitness level, age, and experience in order to make your whitewater adventure the perfect fit!
Everything you need to enjoy your river adventure will be provided by Breckenridge Whitewater Rafting including paddles, life jackets, and helmets. On BWR run rafting trips, we also have wetsuits and splash jackets for those who want to take advantage – FREE of Charge! You just need to bring a swimsuit and a pair of shoes that will stay securely on your feet (no flip-flops or crocs). Here are a few of the extras that might make the day more comfortable: sunscreen and sunglasses, a bottle of water, a hat, and additional synthetic layers if it’s cold or rainy.
On overnight river trips, we provide tents and thick sleeping pads for your comfort, camp chairs, a toilet, the “kitchen,” and other necessities for making hot and delicious meals. You need to bring a sleeping bag (or rent one from us) and personal items. It’s so easy! If you book an overnight Colorado rafting trip, you will receive a list of suggested items to pack.
When you raft with Breckenridge Whitewater, you’ll see why our guides are some of the very best in the business. Our raft guides have an average of 8 years of experience; this is well above the industry average. Some of our guides have been working professionally on rivers for over 20 years! They’ll teach you to paddle, tell you jokes and stories, point out the wildlife and geology, and altogether entertain you for the time you’re in a boat with them. Our reputation has everything to do with the hard work and outstanding guest service of our guides and every member of our staff. Our goal is to make your rafting experience a life-long memory.
There’s no question that the thrill of a whitewater adventure is enough adventure for most, but if you’re a thrill seeker with a desire for further Colorado adventure we can help. Are you looking for horseback riding, ziplining, rock climbing, fishing, or hiking to complement your whitewater river trip? Our reputation and relationships in the Colorado adventure scene can help make any of them a reality. In fact, when considering your whitewater rafting adventure in Colorado, you’ll want to ensure your rafting outfitter is recognized by other adventure companies working together to bring you the best adventure the area has to offer.
Breckenridge Whitewater Rafting doesn’t limit you to one or two trips but instead offers a wide variety of trips and adventures from meek and mild to big, wet, and wild. We know you’ll be happiest if we fit you and your group to just the right trip. Breckenridge Whitewater Rafting offers whitewater trips on multiple rivers across Colorado, so we’re sure to have one that’s convenient and appropriate for you.
While these may be some of our most commonly asked questions, we also know that there are many more that may be on your mind. The most important variable in all these decisions is you – our goal is to answer all your questions and to ensure that your trip is just what you want. Call us 7 days a week at 1-800-370-0581.
As with any future plans, at BWR we understand unforeseen circumstances can arise and we do our best to accommodate your group if things change. And because we care about our rafters, we at BWR offer a more lenient policy than many other companies. We also offer trip cancellation insurance to give you even greater reassurance that you have options should your plans change. Please review our trip cancellation policy for full details.
