Breckenridge summer is quite a treat to behold! Rather than everyone heading up on the slopes shreddin’ powder, they go do outdoorsy summer activities and get engaged in events going on in Breckenridge! Let’s have a look at the Breckenridge summer events calendar for 2017 to see what’s going on.
Wave: Light, Water & Sound
Hosted by Breck Create, this four-day festival starting June 1st features interactive artworks, temporary installations and musical performances in and around the Blue River Plaza. Prepare to witness the transformation of the river, bridges and waterfront area into outdoor canvasses and exhibition spaces.
Gold Panning Championships
From June 16th – 18th, the Gold Prospectors of Colorado will be back in Breckenridge for this historical event. Head over to the Blue River Plaza for gold panning instruction and to watch the 2017 Gold Panning Championships on Main Street. This event is free and everyone is welcome to join in on the fun from 10:00am – 5:00pm.
Breck Bike Week
Because of the vast majority of outdoorsy hobbies to engage in Breckenridge, sports are celebrated and enjoyed year round. Coming up June 21st – 25th, Breck Bike week will be capturing peoples’ attention. Everything bike related will be out and about. This includes bike demos, group rides, competitions, fun rides and all bike related products!
Fourth of July
Every year Breckenridge proves itself to be a top Independence Day destination! Kick off the holiday with a 10K trail run, the Firecracker 50 mountain bike race and the Main Street parade. Wrap up the evening with some fun family activities, live music, a performance by the National Repertory Orchestra and an extraordinary fireworks display. Keep your eyes peeled for the Breckenridge Creative Arts’ Street Arts Festival, with street, pavement and graffiti arts with outdoor murals, installations, workshops and pop-up art.
Breckenridge Beer Festival
Shortly after Independence Day, on July 13th, we will be getting beer-tastic at the Breckenridge Beer festival. The festival will feature the Breck Brewery’s brews as well as beer from other distilleries in the area!
Colorado Classic Bike Race
This August, Breckenridge plays host to the inaugural Colorado Classic Bike Race. From August 1oth – 13th, professional male cyclists from all across the world will race more than 300 miles through Colorado Springs, Breckenridge and Denver. There will also be two days of professional women’s cycling beginning in Colorado Springs on the 10th and completing on the 11th with a women’s-only event under the lights in Denver.
Oktoberfest
Head on out to the largest Oktoberfest celebration in the Rocky Mountains! This September 8th – 10th, Main Street, Breckenridge will transform to our own little German town! This celebration is obviously full of beer, but Breckenridge makes sure to put on the celebration for those of all ages. Check out the face-painting stations, join in on the 5k run and test your skills at a wide variety of German themed games, including the poplar Hammerschlagen.
