Keystone is helping to kick of the Christmas season this Thanksgiving weekend with a holiday parade in Ripperoo’s Village, a lighting of River Run featuring Santa himself. Parades dazzling with LET torchlight’s, hot cocoa, Santa photo-ops, a fireworks display, and more fun awaits those who plan to attend this Keystone Kidtopia Extravaganza. In addition to the fun in Ripperoo’s Village, there will also be snow tubing atop Decrum Mountain as well as the ceremonial lighting of the world’s largest snow fort!
In Frisco on Thanksgiving the 6th Annual Turkey Day 5K kicks off at 9:30 AM. This is a great family activity for the whole family to burn a few calories before chowing down on some delicious food with friends and family. Stick around for the post-race party for prize giveaways and refreshments. Another great family activity to do during Thanksgiving weekend will be going to the Frisco tubing hill, great for the youngsters and those young at heart. There is surface lift to get you to the top, so no hiking necessary.
In Breckenridge, there are a plethora of shops to check out while walking up and down Main St. If you happen to be staying in Breckenridge and you have the kiddos with you, be sure to check out Downstairs at Eric’s for great pizza and an arcade to keep the whole family busy. Breckenridge is a very unique town with a rich history. Learn all about the town’s past with educational guided tours, as well as some exciting haunted tours, or a swinging door saloon tour of the town.
Of, course the main thing to do for Thanksgiving is going to be to go skiing or Snowboarding! Opening weekend at Breckenridge is going to be November 8th – 11th. Once Thanksgiving rolls around there will be fresh new terrain open, which will be great! On the day(s) that you may just want to take it easy, the Gold Runner Coaster is a must! You can go alone or with a partner, you control your speed as you go through twists and turns above the ski runs.
