Your Family Will Love the Upper Colorado River

Colorado is home to many of the best rafting rivers in the country. From nice float trips to intense Class V rapids, there’s a river for everyone.  The Upper Colorado River is often considered a favorite by new rafters and experienced thrill junkies alike, and is a great family outing for a summer adventure.  The “Upper C” is a more relaxed float, and where there may not be as much adrenaline as other trips there is plenty of bonding and fun to be had.  Your youngest adventurer can be 2 years old, making this trip perfect for all generations.

Rafting Trip Location

Breckenridge Whitewater Rafting’s Upper Colorado trip takes off from Kremmling, Colorado, which is just under 2 hours of driving from Denver and an hour from Summit County and Steamboat Springs.  When your group arrives at our outpost, you will check in and meet your guide before getting geared up.  BWR stands out against other rafting outfitters, as we provide wetsuits, splash jackets, helmets, PFDs, and paddles free of charge.

The Trip

You’ll head to the starting point and learn the in’s and out’s of rafting prior to starting your journey.  The environment surrounding the Upper Colorado River will take your breath away, and the peaceful float through canyons and mountains of Colorado will give you amazing views that can only be seen while floating down the river.

As you make your way down the river there are many stopping points for fun activities.  Soak in some natural hot springs right along the river or cliff jump off some giant boulders lining the water.  Class II rapids awaits you just a bit further down the stretch, giving you a jolt of adrenaline and will have you navigating your way through some less intense whitewater fit for all ages.

Overnight Trips on the Upper Colorado River

Another adventure you can consider is our 24 Hours on the Upper C trip.  Gather the family for an overnight excursion and have some quality bonding time as you raft, then spend a night on shore camping under Colorado’s beautiful night sky.  Your guides will cover cooking dinner and setting up camp as you sit back and relax with your family.

Kremmling Lodging

If you’re headed to the Kremmling area the night before your adventure, there are plenty of lodging options in town so you can wake up refreshed in the morning and ready for a day on the river.  Stay in one of the many bed & breakfasts’ or motels, then grab some breakfast or lunch at the Moose Café, Jilly’s, or The Kitchen Table to fuel you up before you make your way to our outpost.
