Breckenridge August Events

August marks the grand finale of summertime in Breckenridge and Summit County. As a result, there’s a ton of events and specials going on throughout the entire month. For starters, the Breckenridge PRCA ProRodeo is happening every Saturday and Sunday all month long. The Rodeo starts at 5 PM and lasts approximately two hours. On Friday, August 30th the Rodeo is running extended hours from 3 PM until 6:30 PM, and is featuring a Beer Garden, Bull Viewing, and Dinner. The closing day of the rodeo will be Saturday, August 31st with a Million Dollar Bucking Bull Riding Championship that is open to the public! Starting Thursday, August 15th and ending on Sunday, August 18th is Breck Bike Week. From races to the expansive off road trail riding opportunities that Summit County is home to, Breck Bike Week is a festival that is perfect for everyone passionate about the sport. With high-end bike demos, bike-in movie nights, lectures, clinics, bike fits and tunes, kids’ races, on top of shopping, dining, and lodging specials, Breck Bike week is a cycling celebration you do not want to miss.

Immediately following Breck Bike Week is the United States’ most challenging cycling race: The USA Pro Challenge. This year, Breckenridge is hosting the Stage 2 Finish on Tuesday, August 20th, as well as the Stage 3 Start on Wednesday, August 21st. As a result of this massive event, Main Street and other roads in Summit County including Swan Mountain Road will be closed. With these closures, expect a one of a kind viewing experience as some of the world’s best cyclists climb, descend, and sprint all throughout the county. In celebration of this event, a lot of restaurants, shops, bars, and lodging options will be offering USA Pro Challenge Specials.
