Brown’s Canyon: The Perfect Family Trip

Colorado is known to have some of the best rafting in the world.  With the beautiful back drop of the Rocky Mountains and the wide range of trips available provide the perfect adventure for every family. When talking about whitewater rafting in Colorado, there is one section of river that is almost always mentioned, Brown’s Canyon. Brown’s Canyon is Colorado’s most popular and well-known section of whitewater.  It is located on the beautiful Arkansas River situated south of Buena Vista.  Brown’s Canyon offers multiple length trips which include the Sizzler (full-day), Express (3/4 day), Half day and even has some overnight options.

Besides the remarkable scenery of the Sawatch Range, this stretch of white water offers continuous Class III rapids including Pinball, Zoom Flume, the Staircase and the notorious Seidel’s Suckhole.  With the minimum age requirement of 7 years and a minimum weight of 50 lbs, the whole family can come along. This allows the go-getters of the party to satisfy their adventurous side without leaving the less adventurous people behind.  It’s fun for all ages and experience levels!

rsz_8-14-09_browns_a__15These trips all leave from our largest outpost located in Granite, Colorado (20 minutes north of Buena Vista).  This outpost offers cabin lodging, camping sites, bathroom facilities and a kitchen that can cook you an amazing meal during or after one of our many adventures.  If rafting isn’t enough for you, try out our zipline!  As long as you are 10 years old and weigh between 75-250 lbs, you can enjoy our zip tours by itself or package it together with a rafting trip for a full day of adventure!
