Breckenridge is a beautiful place to visit, with outdoor activities and fun festivals in every season! As we head into summer in Breckenridge, there are numerous festivals and events for visitors and locals to explore, all while enjoying the warmer months in the high country. Don’t forget to bring your camera for all the beauty the town has to offer; from old buildings to the mountain vistas and sunsets, Breckenridge has views you don’t want to miss!

Summer Weather in Breckenridge, Colorado

The best months to head out to Breckenridge are May through October. The weather is temperate, and many hiking paths and outdoor areas are cleared of snow and more easily accessible.

Temperatures range from the mid-50s in May to the low 70s in July and back down to the low 50s in October. The weather can often change during the day with unexpected rain storms, as well as drop into the cooler temps in the evening. We recommend dressing in layers and always have an extra raincoat or jacket with you!

Fourth of July (July)

  • July 4, 2023
  • The town hosts a variety of events including a 10K running race, a kid’s strider bike race, parade, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, performances by the National Repertory Orchestra, and of course fireworks!

Breckenridge Summer Beer Festival (July)

  • July 15th, 2023
  • Located at Beaver Run Resort, the event includes beer from over 30 breweries

Breckenridge International Festival of Arts (August)

  • August 11-20, 2023
  • Experience local, national, and international artists with countless events and venues across Breckenridge. Art forms include various entertainment, music, dance, film, and visual arts opportunities with the goal to unite art, creativity, and adventure

Breckenridge Wine Classic (August)

  • August 24-26, 2023
  • The festival includes wine tastings, wine and food pairing experiences, classes, and other adventure opportunities

 

Colorado Classic (September)

  • September 9, 2023
  • This mountain bike race includes 3 courses varying in distance, as well as a kid’s course. It is part of the Colorado Off Road Points Series and is one of the largest races in the mountains

Oktoberfest (September)

  • Sept 15-17, 2023
  • This 3-day Oktoberfest celebration includes collectible steins, local beers, a dinner, and even a 5k trail run

Epic Discovery at Breckenridge

For even more summer fun, check out Epic Discovery at Breckenridge Resort. Open June 17th through Labor Day, the park offers fun for all ages. Visitors can ride the gondola up to Peak 8, where you’ll find a thrilling mountain-top fun park! There is also food and drink for purchase, as you take advantage of the park’s fun activities.

Pay a Visit to The Breckenridge Troll

Isak Heartstone, otherwise known as the Breckenridge Troll, is a local sculpture created from recycled materials. The troll was originally built for the Breckenridge Festival of Arts but has remained as one of Breckenridge’s notable tourist attractions. Created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo, Breckenridge’s troll represents one of over 100 trolls worldwide. Check out Dambo’s world troll map, and see where you can visit all of Dambo’s trolls!

Located about a mile from downtown Breckenridge on the Trollstigen Trail, the Breckenridge troll is relatively easy to find. The trailhead is next to the Stephen C. West Ice Arena parking lot, and visitors only need to walk a short stretch to find Isak!

Explore Downtown Breckenridge

Breckenridge may be a renowned ski town, yet with over 200 shops and 80 restaurants, its vibrant downtown offers plenty to do outside of skiing. Breckenridge has a wide range of shops from boutiques to outdoor gear stores, selling jewelry, shoes, home décor, chocolates, ski gear, and souvenirs. Breckenridge also offers a large arts scene, with opportunities to take classes and explore the best of the arts district.

And let’s not forget Breckenridge’s restaurants and breweries! Breckenridge boasts a wide variety of restaurants and bars, from fancy dining experiences to cozy cafes and bars.
