The Numbers on the Arkansas River
The Numbers is the quintessential Class III-V white water rafting run of Colorado on the Arkansas River. The big drops start at – you guessed it –Number One, and continue through eight incredible whitewater challenges. Veritable minefields of crashing holes and ill-placed boulders, the rapids on this stretch each possess distinct personalities, so be prepared for anything!
Miners in the late 1800’s viewed these eight rapids on the northern section of the Arkansas as non-navigable landmarks rather than as the quintessential Class IV classics that they’re viewed as today; hence they appointed them the numbers that remain as their names. The simplicity of their labels, however, does not reflect a simplicity in their character. This run is charged with high-intensity continuous whitewater and punctuated by the eight notorious Numbers. Paddling the Numbers requires good physical condition and a minimum age of 15 years; and everyone appreciates our sizzling fajita lunch, served riverside on The Numbers/Narrows full day trip!
The Numbers Half Day: Check-in at 8:30 am, or 12:30 pm
The Numbers/Narrows Full Day: Check-in at 8:30am.
The Numbers Wyldride
Grab a friend and experience the famous Class III-V Numbers section in a mini nine-foot raft! The two of you plus a guide will hit this very continuous section of whitewater. As you can imagine, the smaller size of the raft makes the waves, rapids, and holes much bigger, better, and wetter. This half-day trip is available morning or afternoon. This is a physically demanding trip. Good physical condition is recommended and a minimum age of 15 years is required.*
