Go to a smaller mountain!
States like Utah and Colorado undoubtedly have some of the best snow and terrain in the area. However, when traveling to these areas people often overlook the smaller local mountains and just opt for the bigger named resorts. Instead of going right to Breckenridge or Park City, check out Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, or Alta.

Adventure! The further away from lodges you go, the less people you will encounter. So do not be afraid to stray away from the groomers and explore!

Don’t eat at noon!
Lodges can be a nightmare, especially around lunch time. To avoid the crowds eat at 11, or 1:30 after the main lunch crowds have left.

Be one step ahead of the crowds. Most people and especially families on vacation, are unable to wake up early and rally the troops for a morning on the slopes. Beat the families and snoozers by waking up early and hitting the slopes!
People tend to stay away from the slow double person or triple chairs. Why? Because they take forever. While yes they can be slower than your average lift, but the time you will save by not waiting in line for that high speed 6 chair is invaluable!

Finding your own personal ski mecca with your family can be hard, especially when the crowds for the holidays are around. To beat the crowds and get the most out of your vacation follow these 5 tips and you will be sure to have a great time!
