This year marks the 23rd year for the Frisco BBQ Challenge! This annual event takes place on June 16th-18th located on Main Street in the heart of downtown. If you are a food junky and love some mouth watering BBQ then this is one food festival not to miss! There are approximately 70 barbecuers that will be competing for a variety of awards, 7 different bands, pig races, kids activities, firefighter cook off, food sampling and even demos. Here are all the reasons why NOT to miss out on this year’s Frisco BBQ Challenge!
Reason 1: All of the BBQers compete in the following categories which include ribs, chicken, pork, brisket, barbecue sauce, side dish, salsa, dessert, anything goes! Don’t forget to get your Hogbacks! In order to taste this delicious food you need hogbacks because they are the official currency of the Frisco BBQ Challenge.
Reason 2: The live music! Who doesn’t enjoy listening to great music while drinking and eating delicious BBQ? I know I do! The lineup is looking pretty great this year. Thursday night, Kela Kuit Tribute is performing. Friday’s Lineup is 101st Army Rock Band, Beau Thomas, Ronnie Baker Brooks and Mike Zito Band. Finishing up on Saturday is going to be The David Mayfield Parade, MarchFourth, Great American Taxi and Buckner Funken Jazz. Come check it out!
Reason 3: There are some main events taking place during the Frisco BBQ Challenge. One event is the 6K Bacon Burner taking place on a paved recreational trail. Racers will receive Bacon Burner apparel and everyone over the age of 21 will receive a FREE beer ticket. Some of the other events taking place are the annual firefighter cook off, kids activities, pig races, Breckenridge Distillery Whiskey Tour and the Father’s Day Essay Contest.
Reason 4: This is a perfect opportunity to Volunteer! The Frisco BBQ challenge is a great place to give back and help out during one of Frisco’s Biggest Events. Volunteers do everything from selling beer to moving tables to selling t-shirts and even helping out with registration. If you are interested in volunteering you can register right online!
