With a town full of locally owned and unique restaurants, it isn’t difficult to find a good after-work cocktail in Breckenridge. It is rather hard to narrow the list down to five places, however.
We’ll start with one of the longest running spots in town: the Blue River Bistro. Over thirty clever concoctions originate from this charming date night destination on the north side. Be sure to head over for happy hour and snag the Peach & Pepper; prepared with infused peach tequila, lemon, Averna amaro, grapefruit shrub and an orange peel.
Jumping to the other side of town, Blue Stag Saloon is a top-notch cocktail scene right off of southern Main Street. One of our favorites is the Donkey Punch; packed with Breckenridge Spiced rum, Bacardi, Sandeman’s port, house-made raspberry cordial, lemon, clove, and an absinthe rinse.
If you’re in search of a warmer-upper after a day on the slopes, Park Avenue Pub has an exceptional Aztec Hot Coco. Hot chocolate filled with Van Gogh vodka, tequila, and topped with a dollop of whip cream is bound to make you melt.
Looking for a trough of spirited goodness? Hit up the Canteen Tap House and Tavern. Their classic “Canteen Cup Cocktails” are served in old school canteens jammed with over 20 ounces of your boozey beverage of choice, making these a one-drink wonder. Be sure to try their rendition of the Moscow mule or the original Canteen-ahhh-rita.
Last but not least: Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant and Cantina. Mi Casa has been a local hotspot for over 35 years with great food and even better refreshments. A fan favorite is their Cucumber Serrano – fixed with a house-made cucumber puree, serrano-infused Lunazul tequila, fresh lime juice and agave nectar.
You’re all set up for the perfect après-ski drink spots! Just don’t try to hit all in one night unless you are willing to miss the next morning on the slopes. Happy tasting!
