Post Raft Cheap Eats
May 24th, 2021
Rafting is a physical and thrilling activity that will have you craving some food once your trip is over. Lucky for you, all our outposts have great options for food around them so everyone in your group will be satisfied. Here are our favorite spots to hit after a day of rafting that won’t break the bank!
All of our full-day trips include lunch and are the cheapest option you will find. No matter which outpost you visit, you will have some delicious food cooked up by our incredible kitchen team.
Buena Vista: At our Buena Vista outpost, we serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you are not doing a full-day trip and would still like to enjoy a meal with us, there is an option to add on any meal to your trip! On our full-day trips, we include a chicken fajita lunch either riverside or back at the outpost.
Idaho Springs: Our full-day trips in Idaho Springs include a BBQ riverside lunch at Smokin Yard’s BBQ. This is a buffet-style lunch right on Clear Creek! Hop back on the river after lunch and finish out your full day of adventure on the river.
Kremmling: Our full-day rafting trips on the Colorado River are 15 miles long…sure to make you hungry! If you decide to join us at our Kremmling outpost, you will have a delicious deli-style lunch halfway through your trip. This lunch is included on all full-day trips out of Kremmling.
To get back to Breckenridge from our Buena Vista outpost, you will pass through Leadville, Colorado. Leadville is the highest city in the United States sitting at 10,152 ft above sea level! In this small mountain town, you can find some of the best pizza in the high country. High Mountain Pies is located on 4th st just off the main drag in town.
High Mountain Pies has a unique menu with pizzas you only dream of. Of course, they have a typical Margherita pizza but if you are looking to get adventurous, we recommend trying the “Crocodile”. This pizza is dubbed as “Leadville’s Favorite” and has BBQ sauce, mozzarella, shrimp, jalapeno, bacon, and cream cheese on it. If you are not a fan of pizza, they also serve salads, bread, chicken wings, and sub sandwiches. The most a large pizza will cost you is $23 and small pizzas cost you $14 to $15. Large pizzas are 16” and can feed 5 to 6 people.
Ollie’s has two locations in Summit County; One is in Breckenridge and the other is in Frisco. No matter which location you choose to dine at, you will not be disappointed. Ollie’s was voted the #1 sports bar in Summit County in 2020! They are known for their hearty and loaded burgers. Some would even say they are the best burgers in town. If you are looking for a beverage after your rafting trip, this is the place to go. Ollie’s has 20 Colorado draft beers on tap and has an awesome happy hour daily from 4 pm to 6 pm. Their entrees range from $10 to $16.
If you want a memorable dining experience, we recommend visiting the Ollie’s in Breckenridge. The restaurant is a floating dredge boat in the creek that runs through town. It is an ode to Breckenridge’s history as an old west mining town. They used dredge boats from 1898 to 1942 and what better way to see one than dine on it!
Tommyknocker is hands down our favorite restaurant in Idaho Springs! The brewery has been crafting ales and lagers for 25 years now and has won countless awards for their beer. Tommyknocker’s menu is full of classic and mouthwatering pub food. Entrees range from $14 to $15 making this a great place to go with your family.
Tommyknocker’s is named after a local folklore the miners made up back in the day. Tommyknockers are little people who lead the miners to treasures and warned them of disasters. The story was also told to children to minimize the chance of them going into mines. Maybe you will hear a tommyknocker while visiting!
